The way we operate

When you ask about a course, we will:

  • Deal with your enquiry quickly and give you details of our courses and facilities.
  • On request, we will provide you with information about courses, fees and course expenses.
  • Provide you with information on course success.
  • Give you the opportunity to talk to our guidance team or our careers adviser.


When you apply to become a student, we will:

  • Let you know we’re received your application and invite you for an interview.
  • Advise you about sources of financial help and any likely fees you may have to pay.
  • Give you information and advice about other support available in the College, e.g. child care, learning support and support for people with learning difficulties.
  • Give you information about other Colleges/Universities if we cannot offer you a place on a course.

When you become a student, we will:

  • Give you information about the College and about your course.
  • Give you a course learning plan describing your study programme
  • Give you a learning statement which sets out what you may expect from the College and what we expect from you.
  • Provide you with a tutor to support you throughout your course.
  • Provide you with access to study services including counselling, financial advice, careers guidance and the students’ association.
  • Provide you with information about our rules, disciplinary and complaints procedures, and offer you opportunities to express your views about your course and the College.

On finishing your course, we will give you:

  • a post course information pack outlining how you can access future opportunities,
  • a list of your course achievements,
  • the chance to use College facilities to consider career and employment interests, and
  • references for up to three years after you leave College.

What we expect from you

As a student you should:
  • Take responsibility for your own learning and for finding out what is expected of you while on the course.
  • Complete and hand in assessments and course work by an agreed date, or ask about an extension of time.
  • Talk about your progress with your personal guidance tutor.
  • Attend all teaching sessions on time or explain lateness/absences.
  • Return any borrowed material by the agreed date.
  • Tell your personal guidance tutor if you are thinking of leaving the course.
  • Take responsibility for finding out about times and dates of examinations and assessments, registering for examinations and arranging for fees, if any, to be paid.
  • Abide by the College Code of Conduct.
