Coatbridge College is the Business | 09.04.10
Coatbridge College were recently honoured with a Gold Award for their innovative workforce development project at a national awards ceremony in Edinburgh.
The award recognised the College’s partnership with local company, All 1 Smile Orthodontics, who undertook customised training delivered by College staff. Staff from all levels of All 1 Smile Orthodontics were involved in the project, which addressed a specialised skills gap in the practice and allowed staff to see immediate effects in their working practices. The new skills and knowledge learned by staff were applied directly in the business to demonstrate its direct impact on patient treatment and satisfaction.
The awards ceremony took place at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh with television presenter, Kay Adams, as the master of ceremonies. The Business to College Awards are organised by Scotland’s Colleges and are unique as they are from businesses to colleges and are designed to recognise the many ways in which Colleges support business sustainability.
Jennifer Lowe, Head of School for Dental Studies at Coatbridge College, said:
‘The School has a strong business partnership with the profession. Winning this award strengthens and highlights the importance of these partnerships’.
The Business to College awards were part of a week long Scotland's Colleges Mean Business campaign to highlight the business support readily available from colleges.
