The programme offers students, teachers and institutions the opportunity to enhance their employment skills, personal development and boost their confidence by visiting other countries and experiencing new cultures.

Vicky, 27 from Lanark, said:
‘We had a fantastic time in Lithuania. I got to experience a different way of working in the Beauty Salon and I’ve gained valuable skills and a great insight into another culture.

It was an unforgettable experience that’s added much value to my present studies and my future career.’

Local girl Alison, 26 from Coatbridge, said:
‘The experience has given me a different view into the Beauty industry and I have learned a lot from it. While we were there we visited a spa resort that offered beauty services however didn’t have an onsite beauty therapist. I think this would be a great opportunity for a work placement so I’m looking into this now.’

John Doyle, Principal and Chief Executive at Coatbridge College, said:
‘The Erasmus programme offers our students a fantastic opportunity to enhance their career prospects and broaden their life experience. The students involved gain a better understanding of working practices in other cultures and are able to return with knowledge that can ultimately benefit their learning experience.’
