College Awarded Disability Symbol | 31.08.10

An image of Rena Kinloch, District Manager for Lanarkshire and East Dunbartonshire and John DoyleCoatbridge College has been awarded a Disability Symbol in recognition of their excellent employment practices in recruiting and retaining people with disabilities.

Jobcentre Plus recently awarded Coatbridge College the Disability Symbol, recognising their pledge to embrace commitments covering recruitment, employment, retention and the career development of people with disabilities.

Rena Kinloch, District Manager for Lanarkshire and East Dunbartonshire, presented John Doyle, College Principal, and his staff with the prestigious symbol and commended the College for their work in obtaining its status.

The District Manager for Jobcentre Plus commented;
‘This is a great achievement for Coatbridge College. It is important that potential employees are given an equal chance in the workplace and have the opportunity to prove their ability and skills regardless of their circumstances. The College is very well regarded within the community and it recognises the benefits of employing a diverse workforce’

Principal Doyle, said;
‘We are delighted to be recognised with the Disability Symbol from Jobcentre Plus. We have worked hard to produce policies that reflect our commitment to fairness and equality and place great emphasis on supporting our staff. We welcome applications from people with disabilities and we are committed to supporting all existing members of staff with a disability. We are a fair and inclusive employer so it is very gratifying that this has been recognised with this award.’
