Small Town Singer with Big Dreams | 09.03.10
Former Coatbridge College student Kris Tennant is elated as he prepares to perform at the O2 Academy in Glasgow later this month.
Twenty-two year old Kris is a singer song-writer from Carmyle, who has loved music for as long as he can remember. Having already sold out a number of venues throughout Glasgow, including Nice n Sleazy, Pivo Pivo and Box, Kris is now set to take the stage of the O2 Academy, also in Glasgow.
The performance, taking place on Saturday 20th March, will see Kris armed with a full band to enhance his captivating and unforgettable voice and lyrics, bringing his indie pop music to the masses.
Kris started out at Coatbridge College in 2005 studying NQ Performing Arts, and then went on to study HND Musical Theatre where he honed his singing technique and nurtured his creative song writing talents.
Sarah Jane Rothwell, Curriculum Leader for Performing Arts at Coatbridge College, said,
‘I’m delighted to hear about Kris’s success! I’m proud that we were able to prepare him for the raft of experiences he’s faced. During his HND he was involved in several College productions – giving him a taste of industry standards and the commitment required to be a successful performer.
Playing such a high profile venue is a fantastic opportunity for Kris, certainly his biggest break yet and a wonderful example of what can be achieved. We hope he continues to grow and develop, and wish him the best for his future career’.
With songs entitled ‘Still Thinking of You’, ‘Things are Looking Up’ and ‘Play the Hand You’re Given’, Kris writes music to reflect his life.
‘My songs are personal - based on my life and own experiences. They’re all about love, loss and the wish to be something more’.
Tickets for Kris Tennant’s performance in 02 Academy, Glasgow can be purchased on the 02 Academy website or by contacting Sarah Jane Rothwell at Coatbridge College on 01236 422 316 for more information.
