Health and Safety
We are committed to making sure of the health and safety of everyone who uses the College, whether they are members of staff, students or members of the public. To achieve this we have developed health and safety policies and procedures to control the significant risks in the College and we all need to follow these to make sure that we don’t become injured or ill. Everyone at Coatbridge College has a responsibility for health and safety – including you. We need your help in maintaining a safe and healthy learning and working environment. You can help us by making sure that you take reasonable care for your own safety and that of other College users.
College Refurbishment – Construction Sites
You are probably aware that the College is undergoing a major refurbishment programme to improve our facilities. Health and Safety arrangements have been put in place to make sure that you will be kept safe at all times. However, you must make sure that you obey any warning signs and that you do not try to enter any areas that are off limits.Actions in the Event of a Fire
You should take time to read and understand the fire evacuation procedures. Fire action notices are posted in all rooms and display all of the information you need to know on how to raise the alarm and to get out of the College safely in the event of a fire or evacuation. Fire Marshals have been appointed to assist in the evacuation of College buildings. Please follow their instructions during any evacuation.Always remember that you must not misuse anything provided for safety purposes i.e. fire alarms and fire extinguishers. Disciplinary action will be taken against anyone who interferes with these for no reason.
