We have a Curriculum Guidance team who are available to all students during their time at College for support with their course, course work and progress. The team is located in the Guidance Suite (room L27). You will also be introduced to a guidance tutor who will meet with you regularly to discuss your progress.

Personal Development Planning (PDP)

During your time at College you will be given guidance in a variety of different ways at different stages during your course. Help with exploring the range of course opportunities at Coatbridge College is readily available (including progression from your course to Higher Education). Students are allocated a PDP tutor who will meet with you regularly to discuss your progress through completing a Personal Development Plan (PDP).

Additional Support

The College can provide support for any student who would like help with their studies. There is a Horizon Centre on both the Duart House Campus and Coatbridge Campus. This is a purpose built area which provides various forms of support for students. The Horizon Centres are central and accessible for all students and staff.

Extended Learning Support (ELS) is available if you believe you have, or you have been confirmed as having, a barrier to learning as a result of a disability or specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia.

Within a confidential and supportive environment you will discuss your support needs and negotiate a Personal Learning Support Plan (PLSP). This will provide a record of what support has been agreed and what you can expect to receive throughout your course. Study strategies such as note taking or essay writing and support with core skills can be provided on a one-to-one or group basis.

Further support such as Disabled Students Allowance may be available to students enrolled on Higher National (HN) level courses. Information can be obtained from the Horizon Centre, from Guidance or students can apply online at: www.student-support-saas.gov.uk www.student-support-sass.gov.uk (opens in a new window)
