Early Education and Childcare
From Intermediate 1 level through to an HNC in Early Education and Child Care which is a professionally recognised qualification, you can take the first step on your journey to a very satisfying career working with children.
We also offer an opportunity to study to degree level with our part time BA in Childhood Practice, delivered in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland. The BA qualification is a requirement for all managers in an early years setting.
Each course offers you the opportunity to acquire and develop a wide range of skills and qualities required in this exciting and rewarding area, as well as providing a clear progression route.
We believe in a genuine child centred approach which will encourage you to work with children rather than for them, an important theme which runs through all our courses. By working together, we believe that listening to one another and sharing ideas are essential skills for those who want to work in a child care setting.
Whatever direction you want to take in child care, whether you’re thinking about working with children and are looking to start your learning journey, or if you’re thinking about progressing to managing your own child care setting, we have a course for you.
Successful candidates must be in receipt of a Disclosure Scotland certificate. We will assist and direct you through this process.

Success Stories
Coming to College is a big step to take – I worked in a bank for a number of years and wanted a change of career. Coatbridge College provided this opportunity for me. The lecturers at the College provided me with excellent and friendly support and are very easy to approach.
I thoroughly enjoyed the placements that you complete on the course, as this really helps to build experience and confidence in yourself. I am now currently working with Barnardos as an Additional Needs Supporter, and this has allowed me to use what I have learned from College. In addition to this, the qualification has allowed me to apply for social work courses at University.
