Learner Development and Progression
"Welcome to the School of Skills Development. Here you’ll find a broad range of courses which offer fantastic support and genuine opportunity for all new and returning students. As a former student of both College and University, I know that not everyone comes to study knowing exactly what they want to do with their lives. What they all have in common, however, is a desire to provide the foundation that will allow them to take the next positive step in their development. Many of our students have progressed to study courses on offer throughout the College or at University, whilst others have gained employment using their improved language skills or as Sign Language Interpreters. In every case, they have benefited from a truly positive and life enhancing experience.
The staff within the School are friendly, experienced and committed to providing the support all our students need to succeed. Whatever your goals, we look forward to meeting you as you take the next step on your learning journey! "

Success Stories
William, Introduction to Youth and Community WorkI work as a Youth Worker and wanted to gain some formal qualifications as I felt this would help me in my career.
Youth and Community Work includes a lot of different subject areas that have been very useful; including sociology, communication and IT. I work with lots of different types of people and my course has taught me a lot of new skills that I can use every day.
The course is really good – I get a lot of enjoyment out of it and I can use the skills I’m learning in my working life which is really important to me. I’d like to come back next year to study the HNC Working with Communities.
