College Planning Process

The College has a well established and integrated planning process which permeates and influences all aspects of College activity.

Led by the Board of Management, the College’s 3 year rolling Strategic Plan lays down the strategic direction, key activities and approach to fulfilling the College’s published Strategic Aims and Objectives.

The College Strategic Plan is informed by the Scottish Funding Council’s Plan, Scottish Government Policies, Directives and National Outcomes. The voice of the College’s numerous stakeholders and communities, internal and external, inform and influence the above, as does a rolling environmental analysis.

In addition to the publication of College Annual Key Activities, the Board of Management develop, implement, review and evaluate the above at Committee and Board level. It is these key activities which form the basis for operational planning. The Board also conduct a range of formal reviews including evidence presented from external stakeholders and bodies, eg HMIe, Auditors, SQA, etc.

Faculty and Department operational objectives are focused on supporting the Annual College Key Activities with a range of planning meetings at CMAC and team level to ensure all budgets are timeously and effectively agreed.

Continual evaluation of agreed SMART targets across curriculum and support operations are assisted by the sector leading Principal’s Formal Reviews and Chief Executive’s Interviews.

A critical aspect to planning success is the established strategy and policy framework supported by regular CMAC team meetings.

The established ethos across the College for each promoted member of staff and their team is the development of their curriculum portfolio or service in support of key activities.

Regular reports and presentations to CMAC, Board Committees and full Board of Management ensure that satisfactory progress is made against each activity.

Appropriate Risk Analysis and Registers provide essential support within a dynamically changing environment.
